Change your email address
How to move your account to a new address, and why it takes more steps than other edits.
Your email is the key to your account, and your account carries your reviews and ratings. Changing it is deliberately more work than changing your bio.
- 1Go to My Profile and choose Change Email.
- 2Enter the new address and your current password.
- 3Check both inboxes — the old address and the new one — and click the link in each within 30 minutes.
The change only lands once both addresses confirm. Ignore the emails and nothing happens.
Why we ask for your password
So that someone who finds your phone unlocked, or sits down at a computer you left signed in, cannot quietly move your account to an address of their own.
If it was not you
When a change completes, we email the old address to say so. That message has an undo link that works for 30 days. Using it puts the account back on your address, signs out every device, and emails you a link to set a fresh password.
Keep that email until you are sure the change was yours. It is the way back.
Things that will stop a change
- •Within 24 hours of a password reset. Resetting a password and then moving the email is how accounts get stolen, so we make you wait.
- •More than once in 30 days. Contact support if you genuinely need another.
- •Signing in with Google or Facebook. Your address is managed there, not by Splirg.
If you are ID verified, changing your email pauses your verified badge until you verify again. Verification is about a person, not an address — see Verifying your identity.
