Verifying your identity

What verification is, when you need it, and what the statuses mean.

Identity verification confirms you are a real, identifiable person. It exists so that people can accept an invitation into a home with some confidence about who is on the other end.

When you need it

To host an Open or Request to Join event at a private residence. Everything else on Splirg works without it, including a Private event at your home.

How to verify

  1. 1Go to My Profile.
  2. 2Start verification from the verification section.
  3. 3Follow the prompts from our verification partner — a government ID and a selfie.
  4. 4Wait for the result. Checks run after you submit, so it is not instant.

What the statuses mean

  • •Verified — done. A verified badge shows on your profile and on events you host.
  • •Still processing — submitted, checks not finished. Come back in a moment.
  • •Could not be completed or expired — the session did not finish. Start again.
  • •Not approved — the check did not pass. If you think that is wrong, contact support.

We never see or store your ID document. Verification is handled by our verification partner; Splirg only receives the result.
