Meeting people safely
Sensible precautions for meeting people you do not know yet.
Most meetups are exactly what they look like. These habits cost nothing and are worth having anyway.
- •Look before you go. Check the host's profile, ratings, and reviews. A verified badge and a history of good reviews tell you a lot.
- •Prefer public for a first meeting. Public space events are a low-commitment way to meet someone before accepting an invitation somewhere private.
- •Tell someone. Let a friend know where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- •Get yourself there and back. Your own transport means you can leave whenever you want.
- •Trust your read. If something feels off, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.
Reporting someone
If someone behaves badly, tell us. Safety reports are the first thing we read. Include the event and what happened, and we will look into it.
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Splirg is not an emergency service.
